What's New for the 2005 Nissan Murano?
Nissan makes it easier to buy a Murano by adding a new lower-priced S version to the lineup, which saves about $1,500 while still including the equipment most people want most of the time. Add the new Convenience package to the Murano S, and you'll get a ten-way power driver's seat, adjustable foot pedals, a cargo net and cargo cover, roof rails, and dual rear seatback storage pockets. All Nissan Muranos receive a rollover sensing system for the standard side-curtain airbags this year, and Intelligent Key entry and ignition is offered for the first time on SL and SE models, which allows the driver to unlock and start the vehicle without removing the key fob from a pocket or purse. Chrome wheels and available woodtone interior trim will be available shortly after the first of the year.

Advantages of the 2005 Nissan Murano:

  • Innovative use of interior space
  • Smooth and powerful V6 engine
  • Car-like handling and ride
  • High-quality interior materials

Objections to the 2005 Nissan Murano:

  • No third-row seat option
  • Radical styling may put off some buyers

Editor's Advice:
The 2005 Nissan Murano is a successful exercise in both form and function, providing exactly what most city-dwelling SUV drivers want while leaving out the clunky, expensive extras. With a supple V6 engine spinning out 245 horsepower, the Murano offers plenty of passing power, while its Nissan Altima-based platform provides a sporty yet comfortable ride. You'll find the myriad of nooks and crannies around the cabin, such as the dedicated cell phone holder, to be thoughtful and useful. All-wheel drive is available for those living in snowy climes, but you'll still do well with the standard front-wheel drive. Unless you regularly like to drive fast on canyon roads, we'd recommend the S or SL trim, which ride more smoothly than the sport-oriented SE model.
