How do I know there’s a God? Because Italians make machines like the Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. This automobile – and the word does it injustice – sings. It hums, 640 horses thundering along right by your ear. It’s shocking, how fast it is, the brutish strength of its powertrain paired with the sensitivity of its controls. Like a ballet dancer, the Murcielago LP640 is grace, power and precision. But it is not a comfortable car, nor is it meant to be, and for the life of me I can’t understand why someone would purchase the roadster. Who wants wind at 120 mph? This a car meant for serious drivers, a beautiful automobile that should not be painted bright orange nor wasted on those more interested in being seen than in simply loving to drive.
